Designing Early Bird Perks
The Complete Guide
Don’t Forget These Essentials!
- Early bird perks are rewards given exclusively to those who participate in funding early.
- Beyond being simple perks, they’re a key strategy for driving supporter engagement right from the start.
- Struggling to design your early bird rewards? Refer to the [Data-Driven Rewards Structure Examples] attached at the bottom of this article and use data from successful projects to design your early bird rewards!
Why is the early bird period so important?
According to wadiz data, *57.4% of the total funding amount is raised within the first 3 days after a project launches. These 3 days essentially determine the project’s overall success. And early bird offers are the most powerful tool for giving supporters a “reason to participate now” during this period.

Setting Rewards Prices Before the Early Bird Period
Step 1. Set the unit price of each Reward
When setting Rewards prices, you need to consider two factors.
- First, cost-based pricing
- This method involves setting a price by calculating the total costs incurred from manufacturing the product to delivering it to supporters. You must consider not only production costs but also packaging, shipping, and transaction fees.
- Second, value-based pricing
- This method takes into account the convenience, experience, design, and even the rarity that supporters gain from the product.
Just because the cost is low doesn’t mean you have to set the price significantly lower. If the product offers significant value, an excessively low price may actually fail to adequately reflect the value of the product and brand, so be sure to set an appropriate price range.
Step 2. Create a “low-price–main–high-price” pricing ladder
If all rewards are priced similarly, supporters will have little reason to choose a higher-priced option. Rewards can be categorized as follows:
- Low-Priced Rewards: Packages for supporters who want a casual introduction to the product
- Main (Flagship) Rewards: The core packages you hope the majority of supporters will choose
- High-Priced Rewards: Packages for supporters who want to use multiple items together or share them with family and friends
In projects that raised over 10 million won, the highest revenue came from the 70,000–150,000 won price range. However, the appropriate price range may vary depending on the product and category, so please check the specific criteria for your category in the “Data-Driven Rewards Structure Guidelines.”
If the price per item is low, you can bundle multiple items to create a higher-priced Reward. When doing so, don’t just increase the quantity—you should also provide a compelling reason for buyers to purchase multiple items.
Maker TIP! In successful projects, Rewards averaging OO won were reserved for payment!
| Category | Average Rewards Pay Later Amount (as of Jan. 25–Mar. 25) |
|---|---|
| Beauty | Average in the 130,000 won range |
| Home & Living | Average in the high 120,000 won range |
| Fashion & Accessories | Average in the low 130,000 won range |
| Tech & Appliances | Average in the mid 130,000 won range |
| Food | Average in the 100,000 won range |
*Results may vary depending on the product’s appeal and reward composition.
Step 3. Designing Early Bird Offers
When designing early bird benefits, you can utilizethe three most common types. If you’re new to wadiz, we recommend focusing on price benefits!
① Price-Based Benefits:This option offers alower price pointthan standard Rewards. Since supporters may not perceive the value of an early bird offer if the discount isn’t significant, we recommend setting the price at a level that clearly conveys a tangible benefit.

② Additional Items:This approach offers benefits in the form of extra items or freebies—such as “buy one, get one free”—rather thana price reduction.

③ Special Bundle Type:These are unique combinations available exclusively to early birds, such as bundlingpopularoptions or including limited-edition colors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. What is the typical range for wadiz early bird benefits?
A. On wadiz, early bird benefits are typically set at 10–30% off the list price.
However, rather than simply setting a large discount, it’s important to first calculate whether your actual profit margin remains viable by factoring in production costs, shipping fees, and wadiz’s commission.
👉Setting a Funding Goal: What’s the Right Amount?
Q. What is an appropriate number of early bird units for a wadiz funding campaign?
A. On wadiz, we generally set the early bird quantity to about 10–30% of the total target quantity.
If the number is too low, it’s hard to build momentum early on; conversely, if it’s too high, it’s difficult to quickly encourage supporter participation.
