Hanji is a paper that endures the test of time.
Made from the long fibers of mulberry, it is tough and long-lasting, and is recognized worldwide for its preservation and durability as a cultural heritage of Korea.

However, it is not easy to encounter Hanji in our daily lives today.
Traditional Hanji workshops and intangible heritage artisans across the country are still making Hanji, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to reach consumers and keep the tradition alive.

Gyeseok began by visiting traditional Hanji workshops nationwide, promoting and distributing Hanji made by artisans.
The biggest realization from working to properly introduce Hanji was that, although Hanji is a familiar name to us, it is actually very distant from our everyday lives.

So Gyeseok asked a question.

"What if Hanji could be used naturally in today's spaces?"

From that question, Hanjihyang was born.

Hanjihyang is an object-type air freshener that combines traditional Hanji with seasonal scents.
We combined a Hanji cartridge infused with fragrance and a traditional Hanji cover finished with letterpress printing, so you can experience both the scent and the texture of Hanji.

In this project, we presentHanjihyang is an object-type air freshener that adds seasonal scents and illustrations to the texture of traditional Hanji.

It is made by combining a fragrance-infused cartridge with a traditional Hanji cover letterpress-printed with seasonal illustrations.
It is not just a product that emits fragrance, but a small Hanji object that you can hang in your space to enjoy both the scent and the beauty of Hanji.

It naturally blends into small everyday spaces such as on your desk, in the bedroom, closet, study, dressing room, or entrance, subtly changing the atmosphere with different scents and illustrations for each season.

Hanji-hyang is not a plastic container or a plaster air freshener,but a fragrance object made using traditional Hanji and Hanji pulp. This is what it is.

Thanks to this, the cover of Hanji-hyang features not just simple illustrations, but also the tactile depth of printing and the texture of Hanji.

We expressed the feeling of each season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—with different scents and illustrations.

Spring is a fresh and lovely daily scent,
Summer is a sweet and dreamy night scent,
Autumn is a deep and tranquil forest scent,
Winter is a cozy spa scent perfect for the end of the day.

Each season features illustrations with different stories, such as the artist's strawberry and squirrel, peach and crane, apple and Newton, tangerine and winter scenery.
