HAMON 3-piece Damascus knife set, designed in Tokyo

The three blades, one visual language

First look: the first proof is the cut

Cucumber cut cleanly

Citrus halved cleanly

Individual character: no two blades wear the same rain

Jihada, the rain-like pattern in folded steel

The pattern is inherent to folded steel, not printed

Four reasons, before any spec sheet

The trio and the edge

The rain pattern and the price

Why a set: Chef, Santoku and Petty

What HAMON means

Different where it matters

A thin edge shown on paper

Heat treatment: hardened to 60 plus or minus 2 HRC

Pineapple cut with the hardened edge

10Cr15CoMoV core, heat treated

The steel: 67 layers, not a surface print

Slicing meat with the 67-layer blade

33 stainless layers per side of a hardened core

The hammered surface, for beauty and release

Hand-hammered tsuchime finish

The tsuchime finish helps food release

The edge: a thin 12 degree edge you can feel

Every blade has its own rain pattern

The grip: an octagonal handle

Repeatable cutting proof: soft, crisp and tough foods

Tomato sliced cleanly

Citrus peeled with the Petty

Inside the set: the three knives

Arrives as a set in a presentation box

Prototype tested: nine sets, four cities

Forged pattern, not a printed one
