It began with the lattice of old windows that filtered light and gaze through wooden slats.

Slide to open, slide to hide. The method called 'gansal'.

The space of 'hiding' behind the sliding gansal door, and next to it, the space of 'revealing.'
A single solid wood shelf completes both storage and display at once.

There is always a dilemma with cherished items.

If you leave everything out, it feels cluttered; if you put it away, you can't see it.
Whaler found the answer in the slats that once filled the window.
The structure that filtered light and gaze through the slats has been transferred to a single shelf.

What is a lattice shelf?

It is a solid ash wood shelf with a sliding gansal door, offering two spaces: one for hiding and one for revealing.
When the door is closed, a soft light shines through the slats; when slid open, the space is fully revealed.

It was made for those who like to keep small, well-used items close and in sight for a long time.
For those who love the deep, rich black color like ink spreading, and fill a corner of their room with that hue.
This is for hands that consider how to display cherished things before putting them away in a drawer.

Hiding and revealing in one body.

A space hidden behind the gansal door, and a space revealed when open.
One shelf serves two purposes.

Sliding lattice door

It opens and closes by sliding, not by swinging.
The light seeping through the slats creates a 'half-revealed' feeling that doesn't feel stuffy even when closed.

Three compartments and a shelf

You can remove the shelf and arrange the compartments according to size.

Carbonized ash wood solid timber

This is solid wood, not veneer.
By adding stain to the carbonized wood, two tones blend together, creating a deep ink-like color that changes depending on the angle and light.
The finish uses an oil finishing agent that complies with FDA regulations.

The process of assembling each piece can only be done by hands experienced in working with wood for a long time.
Whaler personally handles the entire process from start to finish at the workshop in Changwon.

We prove ourselves through verification.

Products made by Whaler have been supplied as TAG Heuer VIP gifts and Shinsegae IWC boutique gifts,
and have been featured in Netflix dramas, and are currently being exported to 18 countries overseas.

The Sal, Chang shelf is a newly created product based on that skill and experience,
and is being introduced for the first time on Wadiz.

This is not a defect but a unique charm of natural materials.

Storage · Use

Please avoid direct sunlight, excessive humidity, and sudden changes in temperature and humidity.
Wipe off any moisture immediately with a dry cloth, and by regularly maintaining the finish, you can preserve the color for a long time.

Shipping

Each piece is handcrafted in our own workshop.
Shipping will begin sequentially from October 14, 2026. Items will be shipped after being packaged to prevent damage.
