Why did we create NEST?
When you look at hanji lamps, on one side there are relatively affordable and popular products based on wire frames, and on the other side, there are expensive hanji lamps with added artisanal value.
I wanted to create a space lighting product that was not simply priced in the middle, but had a different set of standards.
It should be beautiful as an object when placed in a space.
It should capture the feeling of natural materials like wood and rattan.
The process of making it yourself should be part of the product.
It should not be something that ends after being completed once, but can be reused.
And above all, instead of buying a lamp with a fixed appearance, you should be able to create your own space in the way you want.
With these thoughts, I began to incorporate different elements such as aesthetic standards, practicality, wood, recycling, DIY, and personal space styling into a single lamp.
The space lighting system created in that process is NEST, and the model completed with a soft oval shape is NEST OVOID.
How the Funding will be used
NEST OVOID is not a product at the idea stage. I have personally designed and created prototypes, and have verified the attachment and removal of the SKIN, repeated use, lighting structure, and the actual production process.
Rather than using the amount raised through this Funding for developing a new product, I intend to use it as the initial production cost to manufacture the verified NEST OVOID as an actual product and deliver it to supporters.
It will be primarily used to secure raw materials such as birch and natural rattan, produce the NEST BODY and BASE, cut and assemble various SKINs, prepare DIY components such as brushes and glue, and for packaging and shipping preparation.
Through this Funding, we will also confirm the experience of actual users completing and replacing the SKIN themselves, and use this to specify production standards for expanding to various shapes and sizes of NEST lighting in the future.
Rather than ending with selling a finished product, the Funding will be used for the first productization process of NEST, which you can make, change, and reuse yourself.

One frame, changing spaces
NEST OVOID is a space lighting product that is completed by directly applying various SKINs onto a frame made of birch and natural rattan.
By changing the color and pattern of the SKIN, the same lamp transforms into a completely different look. You can change the atmosphere of your space to match your desired color and mood without having to buy a new lamp.
A personalized light that you assemble and complete yourself.
We provide pre-cut SKIN along with the brush and glue needed for the process.
Instead of simply using a predetermined finished product, the process of selecting your desired SKIN and attaching it yourself is included in the design of NEST OVOID.
Even those working for the first time can preview the production process.
We filmed the entire SKIN attachment process without any editing.
You can directly check the steps to completion and the actual difficulty of the process.

A light that you peel off and remake.
The SKIN you attach once is not the final look of NEST OVOID.
You can remove the existing SKIN using water and apply a new SKIN again. The durable birch BODY and natural rattan frame remain intact for repeated use.
Make it → Use it → Change it → Use it again.
This is what sets NEST OVOID apart from typical finished hanji lamps.
We developed the structure as we created it.
NEST OVOID is not just a light with a designed shape.
We designed the frame structure so you can attach the SKIN, remove it when needed, and replace it with a new SKIN. We have applied for a patent for this invention related to a space lighting structure that allows repeated use by replacing the outer layer.
Also, in the process of shaping curves with natural rattan, a special connection structure was needed so that the rattan joints would not stand out or disrupt the flow of the form. To achieve this, we designed the Rattan Link ourselves and applied for a utility model.
These two applications are not stories made to explain the product first, but results created through the actual process of making NEST and solving problems.
Hello, this is the THINKMADE maker.
I have been working in distribution since 1991, and about five years ago, I started designing and producing products myself.
Currently, I create space lighting and lifestyle products by combining different materials and production methods such as birch laser processing, natural rattan, hanji, and 3D printing.
Rather than ending with an idea on paper, I design and create prototypes myself, then incorporate issues discovered during actual use back into the design.
NEST also began through this process. I built frames with wood and rattan, repeatedly attaching and removing various types of paper by hand, and through this, completed the current NEST OVOID and the replaceable SKIN structure.
This project is also a process of introducing to supporters a product that I have personally designed, produced, and verified.
With the works and products I have created so far, I have won 10 awards over 3 years, registered 2 invention patents, 3 trademarks, and published over 20 design notices, steadily accumulating the results of design and production as intellectual property.
The reason I chose Wadiz
NEST OVOID does not end with simply choosing a finished light.
It is a space lighting product that you complete by attaching the SKIN yourself, and after some time, you can remove it and recreate it with new colors and patterns.
Although I have refined the product's structure and production methods through design, manufacturing, and repeated testing, I believe the maker's judgment and the user's actual experience can differ.
Therefore, rather than launching NEST OVOID as a typical retail product from the start, I want to take the first step on Wadiz with supporters who experience new products and ideas first and share their feedback.
Through this Funding, I want to see whether the hands-on process is difficult, how the method of selecting and replacing the SKIN is received, and how it is actually used in real spaces.
Based on supporters' experiences, I will improve NEST and expand it into various forms and sizes of space lighting in the future.
It can be further expanded as needed.

A dimming switch custom-made by THINKMADE for NEST.
Instead of using standardized finished products available on the market as they are,
THINKMADE purchases the switch and C-pin jack separately to match NEST's power structure,
and then assembles them by soldering and bonding.
It allows power ON/OFF and brightness adjustment.
