This is Ji Jonghwan, the head pharmacist of Seolarae.

The wild ginseng cultured root is a product we have been developing since early 2024.
I would like to share the story behind the development of this product.

[Moving our headquarters from Seoul to Yeongju.]

Since the early days of the brand, Seolarae has sold bellflower products at various department stores.
While developing the product, in order to find the best bellflower,
I personally sourced bellflowers from all over the country to compare their quality.
Among them, the bellflowers from Sobaeksan in Yeongju had the best quality.


This is Farmer Sana, who diligently grows the bellflowers we use.

So..! Seolarae decided to use only Sobaeksan bellflowers from Yeongju going forward.
(Yeongju is famous for Punggi ginseng, so it is only natural that root crops from this region are of high quality.)

However, sadly, despite their high quality, Yeongju bellflowers are not well known.
Because they are not famous, they are sold at low prices at the wholesale market, not receiving their true value.


While witnessing these circumstances,
I realized that Seolarae could do much more by going local,
We thought we might be able to help the local community as well.


In March 2024, we relocated our main office from Seoul to Yeongju.
(In fact, it was not an easy decision to move to a place where we had no connections...)

[An Opportunity Met by Chance in Heavy Rain]

In July 2023, while considering relocating our main office,
there was a day when we visited Yeongju.
I wanted to meet many people to adapt to Yeongju in advance,
but all plans were canceled due to record-breaking heavy rain.


Then I heard about a book club being held at a local startup space and quickly joined.
There, I met a plant researcher.

The person in yellow is the plant researcher.

"I work at a company called Vitrosis,
as a plant researcher.
If you don't have any plans tomorrow,
would you like to come and take a tour of the company?"

The next day, I braved the heavy rain and visited the Vitrosis headquarters.

[A Tranquil Closed School, Inside—A Cutting-Edge Plant Cloning Lab...]

When I arrived at Vitrosis, I saw a closed school covered in ivy.
I wondered if I had come to the wrong place, but when I opened the door to the school,
a space filled with state-of-the-art research equipment unfolded before my eyes.

It was like this.Such a wonderful space...This is the laboratory of the plant researcher...

The plant researcher said.

"Actually, this company was founded by my father,
After developing plant cloning technology at the Korea Forest Service,
he developed cultured wild ginseng roots."

While studying in the Department of Korean Medicine,Wild ginseng, which I had only heard of as a legendary herb... That DTo clone its DNA,
(Moreover, wild ginseng is so rare that it does not even appear in herbal medicine books.)

Popularizing wild ginseng through cultured roots,
and dreaming of the day when we solve the global food problem, hearing that vision,
I made up my mind.

[I want to create good products with good companies.]

If the day comes when Seolarae is loved by many people,

Even though there are companies with outstanding technology worldwide,
good companies that are not well known because they are local,
I want to make them more widely known through collaboration with Seolarae.

I want to develop a great product that reinterprets traditional Korean medicine together with these excellent companies.

Since that day, I have been in continuous communication with the plant researcher and the Vitrosis research team.
We have been developing the product together for a year.

The optimal blend we discovered this way,
is now being introduced through Wadiz.
